Tips for your air travel

Type of baggage used: cabin baggage or check-in baggage

If the means of transport we are going to use is by plane, we will distinguish between luggage that we can take on board the plane or luggage to be checked in.

on board the aircraft or check-in baggage .

It is advisable to consult the rules of the airline you are going to use to take into account the measurements and weights allowed per passenger.

The general rule for low cost bags is 40 x 55 x 20 cm. 10 Kgrs. and the normal airlines 45 x 56 x 25 cmts.

Suitcase material

Regarding the type of material of the suitcase, SusMaletas recommends rigid suitcases, either polypropylene, the most common rigid material used in the manufacture of suitcases, or the current polycarbonates, which stand out for their high resistance and low weight, especially in large sizes, as we can avoid paying overweight to the airline.

Travel destination

Another very important aspect to take into account when travelling by plane is the destination of the trip. For example, if we are going to travel to the United States, it is ideal that our suitcase has a TSA lock.

This lock has the characteristic that the customs police have a master key to open our suitcase, if necessary, without the need to force it or consequently break the suitcase.

Transporting liquids for air travel

It is also necessary to take into account the transport of liquids, for which liquids transported in hand luggage must be taken into account. Liquids may only be carried in hand luggage in the following cases:

- Liquids in individual containers of a capacity not exceeding 100 ml. contained in turn in a transparent plastic bag with an opening/closing system and a capacity not exceeding 1 litre (bag measuring approximately 20 x 20 cm).

-

- Only one bag may be carried per passenger, including children. The contents of this bag must fit comfortably and the bag with the contents must be able to be closed completely. Passengers must be provided with such bags before the start of their journey.

-

- They can be purchased from any shopping centre, provided they meet the requirements, or from shops in some airports. For the purpose of these measures, liquids are considered as follows:

-

- - Water and other beverages, soups, syrups.

- Creams, pastes (including toothpaste), lotions and oils. Perfumes.

- Gel, e.g. shower gel or shampoo.

- Contents of pressurised containers, including shaving foam, other foams and deodorants.

- Any other of similar consistency.

- Liquids that must be used during the journey* either for medical needs or special dietary requirements, including baby food. When required, the passenger must show the authenticity of the liquid. It is recommended that, as far as possible, the passenger carries the medical prescription or justification of his or her particular condition.

* Travel = outbound flight + stay + return flight.

Liquids, such as drinks or perfumes, purchased in shops at Community airports or at authorised airports** in non-EU countries, provided that these shops are located after security checks.

If you purchase any of the products affected by these regulations, please contact the shop staff for more information on how to transport the purchased liquids.

** Singapore Airport (SIN) and in Croatia, Dubrovnik (DBV), Rijeka (RJK), Pula (PUY), Split (SPU), Zadar (ZAD) and Zagreb (ZAG) airports.

Liquids obtained on board the aircraft of a Community carrier. If you purchase any of the products affected by these regulations, please contact the crew for more information on how to transport the purchased liquids.

If you are travelling with any of the above permitted liquids in your hand baggage, you must remove them from your hand baggage, place them in the tray provided and present them at the security checkpoint for inspection separately from the rest of your hand baggage.

Tips on carrying liquids on the aircraft

If these products are sold in sealed bags, do not open them until you have completed your journey. If you are continuing your journey at another EU airport, do not open this sealed bag until you have left the last EU airport. The restrictions on the carriage of liquids referred to in this section do not apply to checked baggage.
