The way to change the lock combination is different for zipped and unzipped suitcases. To change the lock combination of your suitcase you have to follow the following steps:
1. Remove the red packing mark from the lock if your suitcase has one.
2. The suitcase combination is set to 0-0-0 by default from the factory. You only have to choose three digits that you can easily remember (birthdays, area codes, years, etc.).
3. Depending on the type of case, the combination is changed in one way or another:
Unzipped suitcases: move the lever to its lowest position. Some move to the right and upwards, others have the word OFF for when the combination cannot be changed, and ON for when the lock combination can be changed. Once you have moved the lever, you have to turn the thumbwheels until they lock into the chosen combination, and then return the lever to its original position.
Zipped panniers:
*If there is a small button, press it towards the wheels and hold it down while turning the wheels to set the combination you have chosen, then release the button.
*If there is no button, you have to move the round or square piece to insert the key to the side indicated by the arrow.
4. Your combination is now set to the 3-digit code you have chosen. You can now open the suitcase only with this code. To change the combination to another code, you must always know the code that was previously set.
It is important to remember that all suitcases that have a combination lock with TSA function do not have a key, the key is only held by the US customs police, it is a security lock, so they can check your suitcase without the need to pick the lock.
